Well the baseball season is over- for my beloved Yankees at least. It feels extremely strange not to have baseball in the montn of October. This is the 1st time since the 1995 season that the Yanks aren't even in the playoffs. 13 years. That's a long time. Anyway, as dissapointed as I am, I think 89 wins is still extremely commendable and actually 4th or 5th best in the league, and good enough to make the playoffs in certain divisions. Which brings us to the what if's- the biggest one being Wang. If he didn't get hurt could we have squeaked through? Even if A Rod, Jeter, and Cano all had sub par seasons?
Alternatively, If Moose didn't have the renaissance, would we have been worse?
Anyways, I'm already looking forward to next year...I think the following players have definitely played their last Yankee Game:
Giambi
Abreau
Melky
Ponson
Betemit
I think the following guys are treading thin ice and could get traded if the right deal comes along:
Cano
Damon
Giambi
Kennedy
Hughes
and these 2 are gonna retire
Moose
Pettitte
So thats a lot of changes...I hope we don't go nuts and spend on really long term contracts...theo epstien has got it right.
